Finding value in the fuss of existence

Image
You will face my defeats in your life, but never let yourself be defeated. Maya Angelou. Life is a phenomenon stirring in merriments and grieves. As a human, every single day is faced with a fraction of situations that unfold the sequence of memories and feelings. We marvel at prospective; even in the depth of despair, we struggle, struggle and struggle for certain phantoms of significance until the inescapable exploit our struggle. Often, life seems much like a thread woven around tough and smooth. By the stretch of tough times, grief greases certain things you resonate with. However, in the most modest ways, it's a task to unravel the severity of situations, ease the haunting and striking illusions — it's as though during these phases of dark times we gasped on how to precisely hold on to life, push beyond boundaries, while also combating boredom to stay off memories of misfortunes.  More than that, there are tons of experiences that define the purpose of existence; something

What the solitude of smoking and alcoholism looks like.

Image
You’re probably used to people telling you that smokers are liable to die young, but you rarely read a whiff of cigarettes translates to a higher risk of early death compared to people who don’t smoke at all. But while the regulations may have persuaded some folk not to light up a stick of cigar, many still completely go after smoking, drinking alcohol and all sorts of abuse of drugs — in spite of the risk involved in smoking. I am always saddened to hear the stories about the damage alcohol and drugs have done to young people who are just realizing their career. Like other heavy smokers, a young man in his twenties life was completely taken off by drug addiction, when his addiction strikes, it was so devastating to his family. To this day, his parents still feel bad for their sons lifetime been diminished by the toxins in cigarette smoking. On the flip side, one of the biggest fears for the modern human being is a silly and dangerous health precaution against smokers and people with

Portrait of heroism

Portrait of heroism  Whenever my legs begin to tremble in slight regrets,  frequently remembering the stigma of sour memories  in repeated downfall without the sensation of victory  Perhaps, I try beset my emptiness to ramp into a feat,  while recalling the maternal myth of advice, words that ignite purge of tender resilience to keep me sane.  On days my thoughts began to pounced on depression, under the weight of contorted smiles in a lonely daze. I will giggle the breath of sigh into ruffles of passion  Like the sunlight of the evening rays,  I will tilt to strip of resilience to flicker lights when dark tunnel claim to carve my sights into blind So, when awakened to the damnation of turmoil, you could hang your bruises and desperation on the barricade of boldness & invocations to build a fortune  Alao Afeez Oluwatamilore

Reflections: Getting the Pandemic Right

Image
We spend precious hours fearing the inevitable. It would be wise to use that time adoring our families, cherishing our friends, and living our lives. — Maya Angelou. I had spent over ‘four months’ at home without school as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) — a public health disaster that’s been devastating to nations while social lifestyle and productivity have fallen as targeted lockdowns in several countries disrupt educational sector as well as depriving congregational religion services. So, essentially there are other plans I had to be modified to fit into the COVID-19 new normal lifestyle. One of the quite major roles as a Nigerian student is that I have just earned is an improvement in literature (reading and writing) monumental moments to feel delighted with relatives and neighbors — moments sharing circumstances and experiences as the deadly virus trapped us in our house. In essence, my daily schedule while the Coronavirus creates us in a new form of being, a few days in L

The Earth Cries

Image
The Earth cries How on Earth did we get here? When did we start judging people on how they look? This is war of human against human, No justification for any form of cruelty against humanity. Why will our supposed guardians be the key to early grave? Our trust in the state has become shaky, We don't feel safe with cops anymore, The social contract is highly overstressed. The black dream still blur years Luther King, Blood of blacks also count, The lives of the blacks also matters, No race is superior. A rapist is indeed a lunatic of nature, Only yes is yes, Don't harbor it if you aren't doing it, Tame the animal in you. Don't force copulation on anyone, Respect the right of others, Satan wouldn't have done more if he exist, Let the Lucifer in you repent.  Sultan Babatunde LAWAL

dis- ABILITY by Lawal Sultan

dis-ABILITY We crawl towards our goals, Limbing to make ends meet, Life is to hard for the blind see, The cruelty of the world is so loud for the deaf to hear. Nature has made us laughing stock, We become second fiddle right from birth, Treated like we're less humans, The world have make us synonymous with alms. The clear definition of God forbid, Source of sadness to Father, Disgrace to mother, Life itself is not fair. Just like a game of soccer, One goal down from inception, If in the end we live right, Our creator will indeed be proud of us. It's more like a sign of God's mightiness , We'll triumph eventually through perseverance, There is ability in disability, The world is how you perceive it Lawal  Sultan
